Stephen Shapiro, MD
Chairman and Medical Director
Stephen J. Shapiro M.D, FACS is a board-certified General Surgeon. Dr. Shapiro completed his surgical training at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
He was Clinical Chief of Surgery at that institution for many years and possesses advanced knowledge of laparoscopic surgery. Dr. Shapiro has lectured around the world about laparoscopy. He is the author of 30 peer-reviewed scientific papers and has authored seven different book chapters.
Dr. Shapiro has an interest in surgical devices and started Advanced Surgical based on several of his patents. He is also the founder of several other medical companies and continues his interest in medicine and business.
FOUNDER AND CEO
Charles Laverty is the founder and CEO of Nuzuna Zone Fitness. Mr. Laverty has four decades of senior executive leadership experience building successful companies in and outside of fitness and healthcare.
His executive leadership roles include leading Advanced Bifurcation Systems, Imagyn Medical Technologies, InfusionCare, Foster Medical and others through periods of great change. Laverty is well regarded as an expert on innovation in the medical device and fitness industries.
While Chairman and CEO of Curaflex Health Services Charles Laverty was named Inc. Magazine’s Turnaround Entrepreneur of the Year for all United States Companies. The award was presented by Merrill Lynch, Inc Magazine and Ernst & Young.
CHRIS BRAY IS A SENIOR EXECUTIVE WITH OVER 20 YEARS OF FINANCIAL OPERATIONS AND ADVISORY EXPERIENCE.
Mr. Bray spent the first 10 years of his career with PwC primarily leading financial due diligence assignments for M&A transactions across various sectors. He then spent several years with Alvarez & Marsal’s Transaction Advisory Group working with private equity funds, followed by four years at a New York-based boutique investment bank as a Managing Director. Most recently, Bray was Global VP of Finance for Getronics, a $1B+ integrated IT services company based in Europe.
Mr. Bray received both a BBA and Masters in Professional Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin, and he is a CPA and a CFA charterholder. He has significant international experience and is fluent in French.
COO AND VP OF PHYSICAL THERAPY
Sam Strayer has developed rehabilitation processes under surgeons covering perinatal, pre/post pelvic floor along with traditional spinal, hip and shoulder surgeries.
His work alongside doctors and therapists has been influential in creating large scale programs that incorporate multiple partners and associations. He received his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Exercise Science from the California State University, Long Beach. He is certified as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist and Medical Exercise Specialist.
Strayer’s method for diagnostics and medical fitness is currently in practice with several doctors and surgeons in Southern California.
VP OF MARKETING AND DEVELOPMENT
Gwen Nguyen is the Vice President of Marketing and Development for Nuzuna Zone Fitness, responsible for marketing strategy, vision, branding and growth of Nuzuna’s flagship brand.
Gwen’s greatest strengths are her creativity and analysis skills. She thrives on challenges, particularly those that expand the company’s reach. Gwen holds two degrees in Business Administration and Graphic Design, specializing in Business Analytics. In her free time, Gwen likes to play with animals and go hiking.
SENIOR VP OF LEGAL
JONATHAN EDDISON IS A RETIRED LAWYER WITH SUBSTANTIAL EXPERIENCE IN START-UPS AND COMMERCIAL TRANSACTIONS.
His main objective will be to manage outside counsel in various affairs for Nuzuna Zone Fitness.
VP OF NATIONAL TRAINING
Joseph O'Mara has been R.O.T.C. Spartan Trained by the U.S. Army and studied holistic yoga at Western State University of Colorado.
He is certified in a wide range of training methods for the human body.
VP OF CORPORATE AND GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTS
Gary Goltz has dedicated much of his career to healthcare, fitness, and wellness.
In addition to building several healthcare companies, he is an 8th-degree black belt in judo. Goltz currently serves as President and CEO of the US Judo Association.
Goltz coached the US Blind Judo Team at the 1991 Tokyo World Championships and became a volunteer Defensive Tactics Advisor to the Los Angeles Police Department in 1997.
Goltz graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Rhetoric from the University of Pittsburgh. He also was the youngest person ever accepted to Pepperdine University’s prestigious Presidential and Key Executive M.B.A. Program.
DIRECTOR OF SALES
Gregg has been a trainer for multiple generations of fitness.
Not only does he keep up with the latest in fitness techniques, he has pioneered the H.I.L.I. program (High Intensity Low Impact) training which offers phenomenal results with a minimum of training injuries! Gregg Has been directly involved in the fitness industry from Sales to ownership for the last 29 years. He Brings multiple club management skills , from serving as a District Manager for some of the largest fitness chains in the world, to owning and operating fitness boutiques and Studios. Gregg is truly excited to bring the Nuzuna Fitness Technology to the public! “We practice what we preach!”
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Martin Weinstein has over 43 years of senior experience in the securities investment business.
This includes seven years as a Research Analyst/Director of Research and three years working on acquisitions for a group of public companies under common control.
From January 1979 until March 1984, Weinstein was Vice President and co-manager of the Risk Arbitrage Department of Salomon Brothers Inc.
He was awarded both a BA and MBA degree from Lehigh University, where he served as a teaching assistant in Corporate Finance.
Today, Weinstein manages his own financial advisory business.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Thomas O'Neill is a graduate of New York University and a veteran of the United States Air Force.
He has more than 30 years of executive-level and board experience in the financial markets.
O’Neil was a founder of Sandler O’Neill & Partners and headed up practice groups for various financial institutions, including Bear Stearns and Rothschild. He also amassed extensive board-level experience for institutions such as First Allied and Nasdaq.
DIRECTOR OF PERSONAL TRAINING
Alex began his career in the fitness industry after receiving his B.A. Degree in Kinesiology as a Fitness Director in 2011.
Alex has worked at several gyms as a master trainer and fitness manager and built multiple teams of personal trainers, who have, in turn, shaped thousands of lives. He has completed over 12,000 training sessions and continued his education in the fitness field. Among his nationally accredited certifications are NASM, ACE, NESTA and Titleist Performance Institute.
Alex has successfully trained a versatile and varying range of clientele spanning all ages and fitness levels. He specializes in rehabilitation, weight loss, and strength and sports performance training.
DIRECTOR OF WELLNESS AND BEAUTY PRODUCTS
Wendy Nguyen graduated from California State University of Fullerton with a BS in Business Administration with a focus on Finance and Accounting.
She also graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) with a degree in Fashion Design.
In addition to the beauty industry, Nguyen has always had a passion for health and fitness.
Her extensive experience in manufacturing, branding, and design has given her the ability to develop valuable products for the market. Nguyen’s passion is to help others look and feel great.

Angie Duong graduated with Magna Cum Laude in 2019 with a degree in Healthcare Administration.
At a very young age, Duong was always interested and had a strong passion for fitness and health. Duong has an upbeat attitude and is highly ambitious with strong leadership skills. Duong supervises the daily activities of the team to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of quality service to clients.
WELLNESS COORDINATOR AND FACILITY MANAGER
Brad graduated from California State University, Long Beach State (CSULB) in 2002 with a degree in Business Administration.
He knew he wanted to eventually start and operate his own business that would help others achieve their wellness goals. After exploring many options, Brad decided to get his personal trainer certification from ISSA and open up his own private training studio in Huntington Beach, CA. Over the last decade, Brad owned and operated three gyms locations in Orange County, and oversaw 40+ independent personal trainers each with their unique training styles. He built a loyal following and sought after client/trainer community culture within each of his gym locations.
Dr. Garrett Neill
MANAGER OF CHIROPRACTIC AND REHABILITATION
Dr. Garrett Neill is a Chiropractor and Rehabilitation Specialist in his 5th year of practice.
His core philosophy when working with patients is that everybody is different and that treatment should therefore be specific to each individual. Dr. Neill brings elements of joint health, soft tissue release, biomechanics, neuroscience, pain psychology, education, & active movement to each therapy session to help patients understand their issues and also foster self-efficacy on the road to recovery and better performance.
