Charles Laverty

FOUNDER AND CEO

CHARLES LAVERTY IS THE FOUNDER AND CEO OF NUZUNA ZONE FITNESS. MR. LAVERTY HAS FOUR DECADES OF SENIOR EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE BUILDING SUCCESSFUL COMPANIES IN AND OUTSIDE OF FITNESS AND HEALTHCARE.

His executive leadership roles include leading Advanced Bifurcation Systems, Imagyn Medical Technologies, InfusionCare, Foster Medical and others through periods of great change. Laverty is well regarded as an expert on innovation in the medical device and fitness industries.

While Chairman and CEO of Curaflex Health Services Charles Laverty were named Inc. Magazine’s Turnaround Entrepreneur of the Year for all United States Companies. The award was presented by Merrill Lynch, Inc Magazine and Ernst & Young.

Stephen Shapiro, MD

CHAIRMAN AND MEDICAL DIRECTOR

STEPHEN J. SHAPIRO M.D, FACS IS A BOARD-CERTIFIED GENERAL SURGEON. DR. SHAPIRO COMPLETED HIS SURGICAL TRAINING AT CEDARS SINAI MEDICAL CENTER IN LOS ANGELES.

He was Clinical Chief of Surgery at that institution for many years and possesses advanced knowledge of laparoscopic surgery. Dr. Shapiro has lectured around the world about laparoscopy. He is the author of 30 peer-reviewed scientific papers and has authored seven different book chapters.

Dr. Shapiro has an interest in surgical devices and started Advanced Surgical based on several of his patents. He is also the founder of several other medical companies and continues his interest in medicine and business.

Raymond Godeke

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

WITH OVER FORTY YEARS OF MIDDLE AND SENIOR FINANCIAL AND OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE, RAY HAS WORKED IN A BROAD RANGE OF INDUSTRIES.

He has worked in the restaurant, foodservice, food processing/distribution, insurance/benefits administration, and health industries. These include publicly traded, private and charitable organizations such as Denny’s, inc., Foster Farms, Zacky Farms, The Word & Brown Companies, and most recently the California Scottish Rite Foundation.

Ray received his Bachelor Degree in Accounting from California State University at Fullerton after serving in the United States Marine Corps.  He received his Master of Business Administration from Pepperdine University and is a Certified Management Accountant.

Angie Duong

SENIOR MARKETING MANAGER

ANGIE DUONG GRADUATED WITH  MAGNA CUM LAUDE IN 2019 AS AN ECHOCARDIOGRAPH TECHNICIAN.

Duong was an echocardiograph technician at PIH Health Whittier Hospital for almost a year when she made a foremost decision to shift her career and became a full-time employee at Nuzuna. Despite having little to zero knowledge about marketing, her driven mentality, strong work ethics, and a true passion for fitness and health had motivated her to self-educate. From learning about Nuzuna’s innovative technology, to website development, SEO/SEM strategize, market trends analysis, graphic design, writing articles, system operations, and among other areas had resulted in her Senior Marketing Manager role. Duong cares deeply about people’s health, and there’s nothing of more value to her than helping somebody go through an experience that makes them happy, confident, and strong.

“Don’t just aspire to make a living, aspire to make a difference” a quote from Denzel Washington had her truly believe that Nuzuna’s LIT wearable technology will make an everlasting difference in people and positively impact the Fitness and Physical Therapy Industries.

Gary Goltz

VP OF CORPORATE AND GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTS

GARY GOLTZ HAS DEDICATED MUCH OF HIS CAREER TO HEALTHCARE, FITNESS, AND WELLNESS.

In addition to building several healthcare companies, he is an 8th-degree black belt in judo. Goltz currently serves as President and CEO of the US Judo Association.

Goltz coached the US Blind Judo Team at the 1991 Tokyo World Championships and became a volunteer Defensive Tactics Advisor to the Los Angeles Police Department in 1997.

Goltz graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Rhetoric from the University of Pittsburgh. He also was the youngest person ever accepted to Pepperdine University’s prestigious Presidential and Key Executive M.B.A. Program.

Martin Weinstein

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

MARTIN WEINSTEIN HAS DECADES OF EXPERIENCE WORKING IN MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS AND BRINGS HIS VAST EXPERIENCE TO THE NUZUNA BOARD OF DIRECTORS.

From January 1979 until March 1984, Mr. Weinstein was co­-manager of the Risk Arbitrage Department of Salomon Brothers Inc, where the dollar value of investment positions frequently aggregated nearly $1 billion. While at Salomon Brothers, Mr. Weinstein worked closely with the Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Department in developing strategies for clients engaged in hostile transactions, valuing securities to be issued in M&A transactions, and advising clients on self-tenders, corporate repurchases, and market reactions to various transactions. He left Salomon Brothers in March 1984 to organize Comdisco Equities, Inc., the risk arbitrage and securities investment subsidiary of Comdisco, Inc. A New York Stock Exchange-listed corporation engaged primarily in the business of leasing computer equipment. Comdisco Equities was incorporated in March 1984 and commenced operations in April 1984, with $25 million in equity capital. Through profit generation and additional contributions, Comdisco Equities was managing over $300 million in equity capital on September 30, 1987, making it one of the largest independent securities trading firms. From April 1984 through August 2003 Mr. Weinstein managed Comdisco Equities and its successor firms. From 2003 through 2015 Mr. Weinstein was a managing director of TheOxbridge Financial Group, an investment banking boutique. He was active in all phases of the firm’s business including the management of an asset-based lending fund, and he directed the firm’s M and A activity.

IT MANAGER

TAMARAH ODELL GRADUATED FROM CALIFORNIA STATE FULLERTON (CSUF).

My education and professional skills have translated well into my role as an IT Manager for Nuzuna Wellness Centers. As an IT Manager, my comprehensive responsibilities range from training staff members on new and current software, dissecting new software and formulating it to fit company needs, updating existing and new computers, managing social media, and any other technology related issue that may arise. I love managing systems and am extremely dedicated to putting them to work for our business’s benefit. The more efficiencies we can create through technology, the more time we can spend with each client analyzing their needs and improving their health.

Joining Nuzuna has been an amazing choice for me both professionally and personally. Professionally, it has allowed me to fully utilize my skills and expand upon it as new needs arise. Personally, I feel fulfilled going to work for a company that is doing good in the world; promoting health and wellness for people to improve their quality of life. I am very grateful to be a part of a company that truly makes a difference in the lives of others.

Brad Williams

GENERAL MANAGER OF NUZUNA HUNTINGTON BEACH

BRAD GRADUATED FROM CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, LONG BEACH STATE (CSULB) IN 2002 WITH A DEGREE IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION.

He knew he wanted to eventually start and operate his own business that would help others achieve their wellness goals. After exploring many options, Brad decided to get his personal trainer certification from ISSA and open up his own private training studio in Huntington Beach, CA. Over the last decade, Brad owned and operated three gyms locations in Orange County, and oversaw 40+ independent personal trainers each with their unique training styles. He built a loyal following and sought-after client/trainer community culture within each of his gym locations.
